Tax Help Montana (THM) is a coalition of community partners, working together to provide no-cost tax preparation and access to other financial services. THM has many locations and options to assist you with filing your taxes.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax help to people who generally make $55,000 or less, persons with disabilities and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals.

This option is best suited for those taxpayers with $64,000 or less of income and simple tax returns who would normally buy off-the-shelf tax software.
