The Montana Economic Opportunity (MEO) AmeriCorps VISTA Project, hosted by Rural Dynamics, Inc. (RDI), focuses on strengthening organizations and programs that bring individuals and communities out of poverty. Our goal is to strengthen three specific objectives within low income communities: improving access to financial literacy, developing transitional plans and/or continuity strategies to keep low income individuals in safe, affordable housing, and to improve employ-ability among under and unemployed Montanans.
MEO’s VISTA project addresses poverty problems utilizing community partnerships, state-run programs, and non-profit organizations. The program offers the opportunity to build sustainable infrastructure to address poverty issues and find economically secure solutions for the low income populace by placing full-time VISTA members with community-based host sites throughout Montana.
What is AmeriCorps VISTA?
VISTA, or Volunteers in Service to America, is the national service program designed specifically to fight poverty. AmeriCorps VISTA Members make a year-long, full-time commitment to serve on a specific project at a nonprofit organization or public agency. Members are passionate and committed to their mission to bring individuals and communities out of poverty.
