Tax Help Montana is a coalition of community partners, led by Rural Dynamics Inc., working together to provide no-cost tax preparation and access to financial services for low- to moderate- income families across Montana. This will be the eighth year that Tax Help Montana has been linking youth, individuals, and families to asset building programs and income tax assistance.
For tax season 2010, THM assisted over 4,380 clients statewide returning over $5.2M in federal refund dollars to Montana communities. This program has also been successful in providing clients a gateway to alternative financial services and linking families with resources.
Tax sites may also offer additional asset-building services that include US Savings Bond purchase, pre-paid debit cards, bank or credit union account set up, work support benefit screening, and referral to other community asset building programs. Tax Help Montana screens clients for work support benefits through the Bridge to Benefits web tool. This tool allows them to pre-screen for eligibility in numerous work support programs such as Healthy Montana Kids, SNAP, LIEAP, and EITC. Partner sites are located across Montana in traditionally under-served rural and Native communities.
